Hi! My name is Shannon and I am the happiest I have been in a very long time. I am almost 50 years old and am in a period of rebuilding and reshaping my life. There are many reasons for this theme I’ve declared – Rebuild. I have two children who are 15 and 16 and in a place where I do not have to be home all the time as I was when they were toddlers. They are more self-sufficient and on the path to quickly being on their own (sniff, sniff). So I have time on my hands. I am divorced after being married for almost 20 years. I am on my own now with the chance to do exactly as I want. So what do I want? Everything!

I want a career, travel, choices, security, but most of all, I want to be happy. I am on the quest to figure out what that is for me. Just for me. No one else can make me happy. I have to be happy on my own and anyone or anything that comes into my life will add and enhance that. Finally, I have a job that I love – it took a while. And it’s something I never thought I would do and actually helped me decide to write my own blog. The house I purchased post-divorce is the most perfect home I could have for my kids and me. It was the ugliest house I have ever walked into but I saw potential and knew I could make it my own. A flood sped up the renovation process. I’ll tell you about it in a future post.
I will tell you about finding my career path that works for me, my divorce, how I got through it to find happiness, and all about the fun I’ve had turning an eye-sore house into a gem. I love it! In case you are wondering, there is a man in my life who is amazing. I dated quite a bit and kissed frogs, toads, and almost completely gave up. Then I met Kevin. You will read posts about dating post-divorce and how I met Kevin. Everyone has their own story and hearing about how others found love later in their life is very inspiring to me. I love a good story!
Yellow is my very favorite color. The color of the sun and pure happiness as far as I am concerned. I love the smell of lemons and use them for everything from cleaning to recipes. I also love fabrics and anything with a lemon motif. I’m just drawn to it. They are restorative and their luster polishes and brings back shine. I relate to that. Which is why I named my blog Lemon Luster. I hope you like it! No matter what life throws my way I’m going to shine on! I hope you will join me.
XOXO,
Shannon
